Municipal Library
In
the old centre of the town, the library is installed in one of the many
ninetenth century silk factories which finally lost their function after
the first world war. As often happens in such cases the space itself in
interestingly proportioned. The building is retangular with sloping roof,
a large room with windows at different levels, once fitted out with shelving
where silkworms were reared. The room is hight enough to make good use
of its vertical space. The simplicity of the whole volume and the undeniable
fascination of the big room suggested a project ahich made the most of
its characteristics; the measures taken were carefully studied so they
would not breack up the overall space ("Abitare", 190, 1980,
