The cylindrical shape of the Auditorium ... is linked to the main body by a glass fronted tensile structure and definines the large pedestrian indoor square. The pleasure to meeeting people, of appreciating the elegance of the location and of the people at a gala, must be underlined by a type of lighting that can return the perception of colours as faithfully as possible. The need to mark the happenings in the hall by continuously varyng the intensity of the lighting can also not be neglected. Halogen sources with dichroic reflector have been used for the lighting of the foyer, the cafeteria, the distribution areas and the public facilities. The radial arrangement of the built-in lights equipped with an internal screen in satin-finish glass, guarantees a uniform distribution of the light levels due to the overlapping of the light bands, on both horizontal and vertical surfaces, without any dazzling and strong shadows. The hall was conceived as a large musical instrument: the curved panels (in terracotta) and the suspended shapes work to reflect the sound towards the audience. For indirect light illumination, theatrical type projectors with powerful halogen lamps (100/200W) have been used, anchored to tall metal posts that are arranged in circles: this choice has allowed the equipment needed for general lighting in the hall and scenic lighting for the stage during shows and concerts to be joined toghether − in a consistent image of strong spectacular effects (Luce e design, le forme del progetto, n° 2, april 2003)
