1928/1978 Architettura
1. General view
The red tubolar framework, elegant and airy winds
its way around the enclosed colonnades of Fabio Mengone´s early seventeenth
century building for the girl´s orphanage of Santa Maria della Stella. In 1978
Domus magazine reached its fiftieth year of ininterrupted publication. ...
The general public, guided by the historical illustrations, will be able
to acquire a knowledge of the developments and vicissitudes of architecture in
a rapid and not too exhausting visit. All those with specific interests will
find rare original drawings and models and, in a simultaneous comparison of the
different tendencies, will be able to obtain a deeper understanding of the subject.
For scholars and students a special librery has been assembled for consultation.
A succession of uncaptioned images extends along the top part of the framework
as a reminder of life and times, the political changes, the social ferments,
the changes in way of life. They are therefore a kind of picture history, or
rather chronicle, of the period 1928/78. On the lower level we have two
inter-related sections: on the left, examples of research, and on the right,
built projects, both illustrated by large photographs, models and original drawings.
The lighting of all exhibition is realizated with very little, very low tension
halogen bulbs (100W 24V) in series connection, built up in the red tubolar
structure. (domus, n° 594, May 1979)
