Fuori serie
1. "One-offs" general view
The impluvium is now divided in two. The ground floor houses
the airy library; above, a room for rotating exhibitions. In this space there follow one
another the many thematic exhibitions that display the Triennale´s Permanent Collection
of Italian Design to the general public. "Fuori serie" (one-offs) seizes on the fact
that some of the furnishings are coeval with the space in which they are exhibited and uses it
as the key to the exhibition design. The brick walls form the backdrop, with long panels resting
against them presenting the two contrasting scales of detail and period setting. The artificial
lighting recreates the effect of light falling from above, approximating the opening to the
sky desired by Muzio. Arranged on the rust-coloured carpet are long steel daises, oxidised
and very slightly curved, raising the furniture exhibits imperceptibly and ordering them
in space. (Silvana Annichiarico, ABITARE n° 434, December 2003 (pgg. 146−147)
