Triennale´s field of interests includes urban design, decorative art, design, handicraft, industrial production, fashion, audio - visual comunication and many other artistic expressions. A new permanent display area, designed to house exhibitions promoted by Triennale and resulted, at the same time, from the international collaboration with other institutions and museums. The Gallery, designed by G ae Aulenti together with Piero Castiglioni, who has devised the lighting system, has been fitted with all the technical instruments nowadays indispensable to a modern and functional display area. Located on the ground floor of Palazzo dell´Arte designed by Giovanni Muzio, the Gallery had to be fitted with an air conditioning system likewise the technical plants (elettricity, alarm system, safety, fire-proofing), had to comply with the regulations in force concerning the security of both works and visitors. The Gallery, consisting of a large central hall and four side halls, is defined by a number of partition walls which make it possible to have several exhibitions being held at the same time. The articulation of the space has been obtained with some plasterboard walls sustained by a metal structure fastened to the ground or to the outer walls of the building.
